Entered New Orleans three days after Hurricane Katrina. Shot on assignment for The Wall Street Journal. Carried a Hasselblad Superwide and made a series of film based images crossing the destroyed city. Solo exhibition, Balance + Disorder at Gallery Bienvenu, New Orleans, one year later. Published the essay, Aesthetics of Catastophe, in the journal Public Culture (Duke University). Lectured at Northwestern University, University of Heidelberg, Whitman College, Rhodes College, and Western Washington University.
